Who we are looking for

We are looking for a colleague with a strong background in photonics (general optics and ultrafast lasers), with a particular focus on hands-on work with laser scanning microscopy technologies.

Your role

As an optical engineer, you will work closely with specialists at leading international research institutions and technology pioneers in academia and industry. A key part of your role will be to develop advanced microscopy techniques and integrate them into our new and existing multimodal multiphoton products. These techniques include FLIM, coherent Raman imaging, structured illumination microscopy, light-sheet microscopy, OCT and photoacoustic microscopy.

The position requires excellent practical skills in working with complex optical setups and optomechanical assemblies, good communication skills and a willingness to travel. Your responsibilities are to:

  1. Develop new microscopy techniques and make them ready for industrial use.
  2. Manufacture custom-designed microscopes and optical subsystems.
  3. Conduct product demonstrations, workshops and training sessions, and provide customer support.
  4. Write articles, manuals and application notes on new technologies and applications.
  5. Share user feedback with R&D and product management teams through cross-functional collaboration.

Your qualifications

  1. An advanced degree (MSc or PhD) in a relevant field.
  2. Hands-on experience with light microscopy and its applications.
  3. A proven track record of designing, building and testing microscopes.
  4. Practical experience with imaging optics, laser beam alignment and ultrafast lasers, along with a solid understanding of geometrical optics.
  5. Proven ability to prioritize and work on multiple projects simultaneously.
  6. A confident, determined and people-oriented personality.
  7. Proven ability to work independently and as part of a diverse team.
  8. Effective communication skills.
